MapCare Update Instructions

Alpine’s latest map guarantee allows you to download and install one map update on your Alpine navigation device, free of charge.

To be eligible for the latest map guarantee, the below update must be performed within 30 days of your product receiving its first GPS signal. Once the 30 days has expired on your product, or you are performing a secondary update, you will be required to purchase the maps.

Please follow the instructions below to update your INA-W900E.

Before you carry out your latest map guarantee you must perform a software update otherwise the latest map guarantee will NOT work.

Requirements and Limitations:

* SD Memory Card with 2GB or more memory (must be empty, FAT32 formatted)

* USB SD Card Reader – Internal SD card readers will not work

* Windows XP (SP 2) / Windows Vista (32-bit) / Windows 7 (32-bit or 64-bit) / Windows 8 / Windows 10. Apple Mac is not supported

 

1. Download the required software and Register for a Naviextras Account

You will need to download the Naviextras Toolbox software in order to complete your map update process. This is downloaded from Naviextras, please see instructions below on how to download and install this software.

**ENSURE YOU HAVE UPDATED THE FIRMWARE ON YOUR UNIT**

[1.1] Once on the www.naviextras.com website, click “Download PC Tool” in the bottom right-hand corner (orange button).

[1.2] Naviextras will then ask you to log-in or register. Click ‘Register’ button, and register an account now, you will need this account to log-in to the software later.

[1.3] Select ‘Alpine Australia’, then select any device from the Alpine Australia list (INA-W900E is no longer listed on this page, but it doesn’t make a difference).

[1.4] On the next screen, click the ‘Welcome Guest user! Log in or register’ button in the top right-hand corner of the screen and select “Register”.

[1.5] Enter your details, and then click ‘Create your Account’ button. You will receive a confirmation e-mail now. If you have not received the email after a few minutes, please check your ‘junk’ mail folder. TIP: Select something easy to remember for future use, or keep somewhere safe for future updates.

[1.6] In the e-mail, you need to click the confirmation link to confirm that you have created an account with Naviextras.

[1.7] Click the ‘CONTINUE DOWNLOADING TOOLBOX’ button.

[1.8] Click orange ‘DOWNLOAD >’ button and it will download the file required to install Naviextras Toolbox Software onto your computer. This is the PC software required to download maps.

 

 

2. Preparing your SD memory card

[2.1] Download the Alpine Synctool here >> ALPINE SYNCTOOL

[2.2] Connect the empty SD card to your SD card reader, then to your computer

[2.3] Right-click the downloaded file and select “Extract” or “Unzip”. Open the extracted folder and copy the “autorun” folder onto the SD card. NOTE: the folder named “M3” must be stored on the root directory of the SD card or the SD card will not be recognised.

[2.4] Remove the SD card from your PC.

 

 

3. Collect info from INA-W900E in vehicle onto an SD card

[3.1] Power on the INA-W900E by turning on the ignition.

[3.2] Press ‘Eject’ key so you can view the SD card slot.

[3.3] Insert SD card into the SD card slot on the INA-W900E

[3.4] Press Collect Device Information.

[3.5] Press “Ok” once ‘Update or Backup successfully completed without errors’ appears.

[3.6] Press “Quit”, then press “Yes” to quit the synctool.

[3.7] Remove the SD card when prompted to do so. Then, press “Continue”. The INA-W900E will restart automatically.

 

 

4. Download Map Update to SD card

[4.1] Connect the SD card with collected device information to your PC.

[4.2] Start the Naviextras Toolbox. The SD card with device information will be recognised as your navigation device. It will take a few moments to communicate with the Naviextras server.

[4.3] At this point you will need to login to your Naviextras account. If you have not already created a Naviextras account, please refer back to step [1.2].

[4.4] Click the Updates tab located on the left-hand side of the Naviextras toolbox. If this is still within your first 30 days of your product first receiving it’s GPS signal, it will display “You have a map update available”. Click on “Install”. If this is your second update or after 30 days, you will need to purchase the update.

[4.5] The 30 day latest map guarantee updates will appear. Click “Apply” to download these updates to your SD card.

[4.6] Once it has finished downloading onto your SD card, safely remove the SD card from your SD card reader.

 

 

5. Loading Map Update to INE-W900E

[5.1] Power on your INA-W900E by turning on the ignition, then press eject and insert the SD card into the same part as before.

[5.2] Synctool will start up. Initialization screen may take up to a minute or so, this is normal.

[5.3] Press the ‘Copy updates to your device’ button.

[5.4] Confirm that you want to perform the update with “YES”. This process should take around 3 minutes, however it may take longer depending on the size of the update, as every update has different amounts of content. Do not attempt to remove the SD card or turn the vehicle off during this step.

[5.5] Press “Ok” once ‘Update or Backup successfully completed without errors’ appears.

[5.6] Press “Quit”, then press “Yes” to quit the synctool.

[5.7] Remove the SD card when prompted to do so. Then, press “Continue”. The INA-W900E will restart automatically.
